Rotala sp. "Vietnam" is usually found growing in shallow water bodies or moist soil in its native habitat.

It is quite similar to that of Rotala wallichii. While it can do well in moderate light, only intense light will help bring out a wonderful golden hue. CO2 supplementation is necessary for good growth. Phosphate should be made available so that stems are larger and redder. Iron and micronutrient dosing is also crucial and lack of iron results in small and pale stems.

It produces a lot of side shoots and these can be trimmed for replanting.

Rotala sp. "Vietnam" can be placed in the midground or background. This species can form an excellent contrast to both red and green colored plants.
